Bowen Asset Management Supports the Community
Bowen Asset Management is a staunch supporter of the Special Needs Camporee of the Boy Scouts of America Chester County Council, which serves southeastern Pennsylvania and part of Cecil County, Maryland. Most of the campers attending this program have combinations of developmental diagnoses such as autism and physical and mobility issues. Since special-needs Scouts do not age out of scouting, participants can range from 12 to 55+ years old, including some that have earned the Eagle ranking. There is a separate siblings program for other family members and those special needs scouts outside of a traditional scouting program.
The 29th Camporee was held June 22 through June 24 at Camp Ware on the Horseshoe Scout Reservation straddling the Mason-Dixon Line between Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, and Rising Sun, Maryland. About 100 special-needs scouts troops from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and as far away as upstate New York, and Virginia attended. Camp activities included archery training, BB gun practice, swimming, handicrafts, cooking over an open fire, and other adventures. One parent said that the Camporee "made me proud to be a Special Needs Scouter. My son ... was treated by all the youth at the event as a Scout and not as a Scout with disabilities. The youth and staff at Camp Ware were absolutely awesome." The 30th annual weekend Camporee will be held on Friday, June 21st through Sunday, June 23, 2019. Registration opens on January 1, 2019.

Bowen Asset Management Supports the Arts
Bowen Asset Management is a supporter of Delaware Shakespeare, presenting "professional, live, raucous, classical theatre" as the Bard intended, and seeking to make it affordable, accessible, and fun for all. The troupe's 16th Summer Festival under the stars this year features the antic romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing from July 13th to 29th at Rockwood Park in Wilmington, Delaware. The classic features mistaken identity, misunderstandings, misdirected affection, and misery ultimately redeemed by love. Before each show, actors from the production offer insights into the play and take questions, while 25 minutes prior to each show, members of Delaware Shakespeare’s College Apprentice Program perform an original comedy sketch inspired by the play. Bowen Asset Management is Developing Future Leaders
On October 5th, the Boy Scouts of America Chester County Council will host their fifth annual sporting clays fundraiser at the Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays facility in Coplay, Pennsylvania. This annual event welcomes teams of four to test their skills on a course which features the fun of shooting at targets over water, through trees, in open fields, and between old quarry buildings. This program helps support the Chester County Council's outreach program for economically disadvantaged youth and the general scouting program.
Sporting clays, sometimes called "golf with a shotgun," is an exciting and challenging shooting game in which clay targets are presented to the gunner in ways that mirror the behavior of game birds or rabbits in their natural habitats. The course is laid out in stations with each representing a type of bird or a combination of a bird and a rabbit.
