FAQs
Do you have a minimum portfolio size?
We do not have a minimum portfolio size that we manage. Each client should expect the same level of personal service and fiduciary care despite the size of their portfolio.
Who will hold my assets?
Our clients enter into a custodial/clearing agreement with an unaffiliated third-party custodian where the assets are held in the clients’ name. We primarily recommend Charles Schwab, but we do have relationships with other custodians.
Is there a cost to hold an initial meeting?
There is no cost for an initial meeting.
What is meant by discretionary asset management?
Discretionary investment management is a form of investment management in which buy and sell decisions are made by a portfolio manager or investment counselor for the client's account. At Bowen Asset Management, the clients give us full authority to make all buy and sell decisions. An individual Investment Policy Statement is produced for each client, focusing on the client’s target allocation.
How do you charge for your services?
Bowen Asset Management LLC receives 100% of its compensation from asset-based advisory fees and planning/consulting fees paid by clients paid monthly. This approach aligns our interests with those of our clients. Our asset-based fees are simple and transparent, competitive tiered advisory fee based on your portfolio size. You will incur trading fees directly billed by the third-party custodian housing your portfolio. Our goal is to keep the fees as low as possible. Many investment advisors can charge commissions on products they sell in addition to their management fees. Often, better and more affordable products exist, but some financial advisors are incentivized to sell products providing higher returns to them. Bowen Asset, we pledge to purchase classes of shares which make the most economic sense for our client’s sense.
What has your performance been?
Because clients have different financial objectives, investment time horizons, and comfort levels, it is difficult to show average client results. Also, past performance is no guarantee of future results because it is backward looking by nature.
What is Bowen Asset Investments approach?
Despite the fact that many money managers are dedicated to one specific style of investing, Bowen Asset is not wed to any specific type or style of investing. We believe in diversification within limits. It is often important to be diversified not only by type of company invested for example small companies, large companies and dividend paying companies but also investment style. At Bowen Asset, we work toward creating unique investment strategies to meet each individual client’s goals as well as our view on the markets and the world going forward. Each portfolio is customized to address that client’s financial risk tolerance.
How is Bowen Asset different from other money managers?
Bowen Asset uses a top down investment approach, selecting a portfolio of stocks, bonds, funds, cash and other investment vehicles in both equity and fixed income. We diversify across investment styles (for active funds) and industry groups (for thematic investments). Second, we decide on a mix of country, sector, capitalization (large, mid and/or small) and valuation (value, growth and/or blend). Our third step is where we differ from other managers. Not only do we do our own research on our investments, we track fund and performance metrics by talking with management teams of many of the organizations we invest with. We do this to insure that our managers are “sticking to their knitting” and our investments are remaining consistent.
